AFTER WITNESSING PRE-FALL’S OUTSTANDING VARIETY, WE ARE TAKING A LOOK BACK TO DEFINE THE TRENDS THAT THE SEASON HAS TO OFFER, NOW THAT THE COLLECTIONS START TO FILTER INTO THE STORES.
Taking a look back at pre-Fall 2016, the season finds designers obsessed with giving a new glance to old classics, whether it’s leopard and chevron patterns or cape and kimono silhouettes. With a more detailed look into shapes and a great focus on details, almost every influential designer introduces a well-known friend in a new surrounding. Fur makes it into almost every collection as it always does for fall and lace turns out to be not as romantic as we thought it would. And what about the bomber jacket? Well, it is here to stay. We organised the chicest transitional trends to take the leap for pre-Fall 2016.
The cool college style jacket has come undone. Taking away the menswear touch, designers infused the style of the year with delicacy and subtly feminine touches. Whereas Joseph’s tailored version appears quilted, Lanvin adds a sporty 90s touch and soft colours on this year’s style of choice.
For the early fall season ahead, leopard patterns fight their way back into our wardrobes. From Alberta Ferretti to Calvin Klein and Stella McCartney, designers introduce the wildest and fiercest of leopard creations and update an old classic. Pre-Fall is going to be a wild affair!
Fall is the season to layer and who said we can only wear slip dresses during summertime? Designers seem to have the perfect solution; Combining the new closet-defining pieces with shirts has never looked more appealing. Whether with sportswear touches at Versace or evening gowns at Elie Saab, it is time to take the leap.
China is a thing, not only for the pre-Fall season ahead. With this in mind, designers play around with new sleeve silhouettes and reimagine the Kimono sleeve. From the very classic silhouette at Kenzo and Erdem to refined touches at Prabal Gurung and Fendi, this shape is in the focus.
A sensitive and sweet colour palette is setting the tone for the fall season. Soft, mild and peaceful we can linger in cotton candy dreams. Time to dress up colourfully without screaming for attention.
Sheer lace, mostly spotted in black is a strong trend. While some designers experiment with subtle panels, others bare it all. Black for fall might not be surprising, but ultra lightweight and provocative see-through lace is a trend you would rather expect for spring.
The super hero amongst the clothes is on the rise. Spotted in almost every collection from Gucci to Elie Saab to Fendi, the covering alternative to the coat is one of the revisited standout trends of the season.
Is it a trend or a timeless pattern? No matter what we call it, early fall is reawakening the old classic with creative imagination. Versace adds florals to the traditional fabric whereas Blumarine spices it up with fur panels. No matter if spotted on coats, trousers or total ensembles, chevron gets a thorough makeover.
