„Our customer wants black, so why not do an all-black collection?“ said Alexander Wang backstage at the show. The New York based designer turned his back on last season’s colourful sportiness and presented a gothic experiment, driven by the darkest colour of all. As a starting point for the gloomy line-up Alexander Wang cited „Trash heavy metal bands“. In this spirit metal mesh dresses and black quilted outerwear was shown. Some bathrobe-inspired clothing entered the dark side through glossy black satin. There even was a triple breasted coat that reminded of the eyes of a spider. As much as the gothic vibes dominated the runway, there also was a subtle romanticism noticeable. Victorian silhouettes, velvet fabrics and corsetry details infused the show. Adapting to his darkest customers wishes, Alexander Wang once again proved how versatile he is.
