Have you ever wondered what “intimate technology” looks like? Well, the fashion crowd that entered the Chanel Datacenter yesterday bared witness first. Two models kicked off the show, almost like an invading army. Dressed in signature Chanel tweed costumes, clean robot boots and helmets, the first impression of technology-through-the-fashion-lense vision became apparent. Thinking more about the scenery, an ideas ocurred: Was it the thought of how to appear feminine and classic in an era where menswear and womenswear wardrobes collide and where there is no such thing as living without iPhones and computers anymore? Or maybe it was all about processing and collecting datas to show what’s possible if you know how to own them. From hardware to textile know-how, technology is something that affects our daily routine on almost every level and Lagerfeld transported this idea with such a strong voice, that his data flow in form of a collection perfectly matched the here and now, without ever loosing the Chanel DNA.
