SOLE CADENCE

RHYTHM ISN’T A FAR OUT WORD FOR A SHOE DESIGNER WHO CONNECTS DESIRE WITH THE WALK. GIANVITO ROSSI APPROACHES HIS CRAFT WITH A SECRET WEAPON OF SIMPLE SLEEK LINES, WHICH HAS SPIKED HIS BRAND TO THE TOP OF THE MOST WANTED LIST.

Digging through the leather crates is a family affair. His father and acclaimed Italian craftsman, Sergio Rossi, taught Gianvito the trade from the inside out. Twenty years of family loyalty gave way to his own shoe brand and Gianvito Rossi launched his brand in 2006 with paramount success, after the first collection presentation that took place in Milan in September 2006, showing his Spring/Summer 2007 collection. He bacame a fast favourite among the front row pack like Anja Rubik and Olivia Palermo.

FORM FOR ICONIC FIXATION

He carries his sketchbook with him always. Architecture is at the heart of his brand and Gianvito Rossi is a rigid perfectionist. Fit and construction are his foundation followed by the curves and simple lines of each shoe’s signature silhouette. Filtering the trend spread is all about variation for Rossi and he designs to evoke specific emotions. The designer cited an “evolution of signature styles” to inform his tradition of true luxury, with a strong stiletto and understated suede ankle ties. In similar vein, graceful femininity was the starting point for his exquisite heels, modern variations of the iconic signature styles. The brand doesn’t restrict itself to heels alone. Flats do exist in Gianvito Rossi’s world and his flat silhouettes have become as wanted as his 11cm spikes.

SPIKED TO PROVOKE

In the spirit of provocation, the brand’s philosophy is all about elongating the leg while keeping the foot flat. Where the straps will touch the ankle or where the curves will hit the foot are details that are paramount to the design process. Sensory elements are the ones that set Gianvito Rossi apart from the rest. Offering a vast range of minimal but never simple, classic yet always modern and above all sensual but never vulgar shoes, the label updates its classics every season anew.

AN ACCESSORY THAT DOESN’T HOLD BACK

Gianvito Rossi’s goal in launching his own brand was all about bringing the accessory back. Never designed with too many details to detract from the clothes, he’s found the formula to fit in with the ready to wear spectrum. Gianvito Rossi has singlehandedly brought back the shoe as an object of obsession, with a strong focus on glamourising the woman rather than overbearing her. Since the label’s launch, Gianvito Rossi has developed into an indispensably successful high-end brand, that women all over the globe value for it’s high quality and cutting edge design.
