Tender Tone

GOOD NEWS! JUST AS YOU WERE GETTING READY TO PACK AWAY YOUR LIGHT COLOURED SUMMER CLOTHES, THE TREND FOR FALL/WINTER 2015 IS ASKING YOU TO PULL THEM OUT AGAIN. THIS SEASON, COLOUR BLOCKED PASTELS SET THE TONE FOR THE WINTER WARDROBE.

With frosty pale blues, winter-sky greys, soft lilacs and Nordic shades of cream and peach, this season’s trends reflect the cool pallet of winter.  While the softness of pastels are said to enhance femininity, designers this season have decided to contrast this quality with references to more masculine shapes. Giorgio Armani plays with the concept of the tailored suit in presenting us with ankle-length, flowing icy-blue trousers and blazer to match. Max Mara conjures up the 1950’s with his understated and yet glamorous oversized overcoats (is this her lover’s coat she is wearing so beautifully, you might ask?) Prada evokes fantastic renditions with her empire lines and stiff pantsuits featuring icicle-like flower appliques, while Loewe appears to be sending personifications of wintery, watery streams down the runway in the shape of loosely flowing lilac lab coats and wide trousers. All that is left now is for you to embrace winter with its wonderful range of pastel hues to blend in or stand out from the rest, just as you please.
