ONE TREND THAT ‘ENTERS THE PORT’ YEAR AFTER YEAR IS THE GOOD OLD MARINE LOOK. SPRING SUMMER 2015 IS NO EXCEPTION, BUT THIS TIME IT DIPS SLIGHTLY DEEPER. THE NEW MARINE TREND DOESN’T STOP ABOVE THE WATER, IT TAKES A PLUNGE INTO A ‘SOUS LA MER’ FANTASY.
The Marine trend was strongest at Valentino. A new interpretation of a magic underwater world emerged with starfish, ships and submarine prints with embellishments on flowing evening gowns.
Stella McCartney stepped away from the nautical classics with abstracted motifs on breezy silks that could pass for coral or maybe a Rorschach test? Fendi upgraded the underrated bathing sandals with block heels and bright patent leather. Aurélie Bidermann tied a sailor’s knot to a delicate necklace of coral and turquoise. Saint Laurent went back on deck with a feminine take on the marine shirt.
Romantic maritime worlds, playful by-the-beach or the classic androgynous sailor – the New Marine trend holds something for everyone this summer.
