FUR REBOOT

WHEN THE WINTER ATTIRE ARRIVES ON THE RUNWAYS WE START TO STORE OUR SANDALS AND UNPACK THE WINTER SHOES IN OUR IMAGINARY WARDROBES. THIS UPCOMING FALL/WINTER 2016 SEASON HOWEVER, HEELS AND SANDALS CUDDLE UP AND ARE ALLOWED TO STAY.

After taking a closer look at the Fall/Winter 2016 runways, we can tell that cosy winter warmers are the next quintessential wardrobe fixtures. Beginning in New York and continuing beyond Paris, fur attached shoes are the key message for footwear. Whether real or faux, the glamorous essential has generated a major hype moving from ready-to-wear into accessories and shoes and was spotted on almost every runway. Furry loafers, hairy heels and fur-covered sneakers as far as the eye could see; into these shoes we will step come summer and walk straight into the winter season.

Salvatore Ferragamo and Brunello Cucinelli tiptoe their ways into the upcoming season by only decorating the shoes’ peaks. Alexander McQueen makes us walk on clouds with fully lined fur insoles in heeled sandals while Christopher Kane and Anya Hindmarch provide us with their luxury kicks that cover our feet. Open toes we see at Mother of Pearl and BCBG and worn with or without tights, these are shoes to wear throughout the year. Designers from across the board have been reinventing the age old and glamorously associated essential to bring a highlight to our everyday wardrobes, so let’s give rise to the cosy-meets-glamorous side!
