THE ORIGIN OF BRAIDS COMES BACK THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO AND FOR THE SPRING/SUMMER 2016 SEASON, DESIGNERS HAD SUCH AN ENJOYMENT WORKING ON THAT SPECIAL DETAIL TO EMBELLISH GARMENTS AND ACCESSORIES, CREATING THE MOST DELECTABLE LEATHER BRAIDING.
Louis Vuitton incrusted thick black leather braided details on skirts and purses, creating a new take on the LV Twist with refined braid work on the side, not to forget the hand-stitching and knots on the masculine and bold Richelieu. Fendi took our breath away designing a sumptuous fully braided red leather skirt forming a divine pattern. The glorious braid work at Fendi can also be found on purses and other attire.
While Valentino realises a sumptuous work creating a modern corset with references to the traditional braiding inspired by African cultures, Alexander Wang’s leather pants using a complex structure leather braiding create a grungier feel. Stella McCartney along with Gianvito Rossi also created full braided leatherwork on accessories including purses and shoes. What could be a rough detail was added throughout the entire season to garnish your everyday look, creating sublime textures formed by interlacing strands of leather.
