Liminal Lolita

A GIRL NEED NOT BE RESTRICTED TO “GOOD” OR “BAD” WHEN SHE WALKS THE FULL SPECTRUM OF HER MULTIFARIOUS CHARACTER. IN KEEPING UP WITH THE STEADY SIDE OF YOUTHFUL, SHE EXPLORES IT ALL AND THAT LIMINAL STATE HAS THIS SEASON’S LOLITA TOGGLING ALL SIDES WITH NO HOLDING BACK.

Youthful innocence has fully matured in keeping up with the focus of subtleties and stories, which flips power dressing to the coveted side of nostalgia. Girly has chimed through this season’s boxy shifts and uniform styled preppy has hit a high note, though Prada’s girl takes Lolita way out her literary confines into another-worldly pastel playground. Dolce & Gabbana keeps decadence grounded amid the kitsch of la dolce vita with homage to the place which the designers know best, Italia! A floral halo doubles as headphones and lets Lolita tell her own story as she walks to her own beat. Boxy shifts line her wardrobe with a mood that transpires multiple timelines. Alberta Ferretti’s girl could tell a Victorian coming-of-age tale of golden hand beaded perfection as she walks a cultured line. Mary Katrantzou’s collection is all about advancement of form and the wallpapered prints serve to redirect Lolita’s curves into tomorrow’s extended self-reflection. Ruffled necklines, capelets and bowties don’t stagger far from the original youthful touch dreamt up by Chanel and Valentino. Bottega Veneta takes burnt-umber shades of classic that surprise with details, both expressive and chic, keeping this side of Lolita’s grownup femme away from over-refinement. Fendi’s all white boxy cuts reflect the pristine of Rome’s old world, yet modern refinement, her headband and neatly folded collar elude this Lolita’s deeply seeded intellectual twist.
