Projected Future

THE INFLUENCE OF VISUALISATIONS FROM AN EARLIER ERA IS ONE OF THE MANY TRENDS TO KEEP THE SEASON IN SHAPE. A-LINE AND BOXY SILHOUETTES WITH A COMMITTED MODERNITY BALANCE THE GAP BETWEEN RETRO VIBES AND MODERN FLAIR.

Imagining how creatives depicted the future back in the 60s and 70s is the starting point for the retro-futuristic style that accompanies us this Fall/Winter. Wading from one designer to the other, we notice a strong recap. Louis Vuitton’s space travel inspired knitwear and Dior’s Austin Poweresque approach to dressing underline that thought. A glance back at formative designers such as André Courrèges and Pierre Cardin and their sartorial involvement gives proof that they still have an impact on what we are wearing today. Borderline Sci-Fi gloves and High-tech fabrics make the difference, after all it is a pretty compromising approach to looking into the future. But is it retro or modern now? Well, sometimes you cannot evolve without looking back.
