NO PLACE DENOTES THE HIGH LIFE OF THE ROARING 30S LIKE THE GLITZ OF PARISIAN THEATRICS. PLACE VENDÔME ILLUMINATES THE THREADS OF SCHIAPARELLI’S FALL/WINTER 2015-16 COUTURE WHERE VIGOUR AND METROPOLITAN PROWESS EMBEZZLES THE FANTASY INSIDE THÉÂTRE D’ELSA.
All forms have a foundation and this couture collection sets a pillar shape as the forward-thinking canvas. Artistic muse Lee Miller, in her risqué demeanor, immortalizes the signature Elsa Schiaparelli spirit with stature and femininity.
The couture collection’s prominent form cut a sharp V into a bold black gown, the palette extended pastels and “shocking” pink. Schiaparelli Creative Director, Bertrand Guyon, took texture to the sky with appliqué stars and thick metallic brocades rallied side-by-side mink and tweed. Hand-painted prints on organdi and silk chiffon brought the night’s theatrical characters to life.
The divinity of Schiaparelli’s couture handwork rolled out another gem, a zircon embroidered moonstone “rhodophane” organza biker jacket that liquefied a mirrored surface and bounced the theatre’s flood lights off the jewelry. Elsa’s star-struck passion wove a constellation among the padlocked broken hearts. Where stars appeared throughout the collection, so did suns, bringing the opulence of Elsa Schiaparelli full circle within a single night.
