SUMMARY HAUTE COUTURE FW16

BEAUTIFUL COLLECTIONS FILLED THE CITY OF LOVE WITH GLITTER AND ENCHANTMENT FOR THE FALL/WINTER HAUTE COUTURE 2016 SEASON.

We actually started the week with a non-entirely haute couture show at Alberta Ferretti since the collection was not fully done by hand. Movement was à l’ordre du jour with fringes balancing from one way to the other. A return to Russia in the 60’s was shown at Ulyana Sergeenko with classic tweed on tweed reaching for sparkles from night to dawn. We continued the day with Atelier Versace, who turned its side to sexiness and switched towards elegance, showcasing an exquisite work on draping. Shape and form was brought at the forefront earlier Monday from models sauntering at Schiaparelli in spectacular garments, to the refreshing contrasted black and white line-up at Christian Dior. Imitating the nature’s circle of life, Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo presented a fascinated and animated collection featuring blossoms, laser-cut butterflies and metallic dragonflies, while Giambattista Valli continues to be romantic.

On the third day of Couture week, Chanel assembled a very special behind the scene; The Atelier! Showcasing the savoir-faire of les petites mains, Karl once again took all the focus. Going away from classic cuts, Alexandre Vauthier went all-in featuring a sumptuous and dynamic line exposing sexy commandos! Always magnificent, Elie Saab did not go easy on textures, as the inspiration was the one and only New York City! While Viktor & Rolf went for recycled and vintage pieces, Zuhair Murad stunned us with his Bohemian chic vision! For the last collection as a duo, Valentino presented a strong collection where Renaissance-inspired blouses meet Shakespeare take. Fendi’s “Legends and Fairytales” kept us speechless with a sumptuous decor at the Trevi Fountain in Rome. Last but not least with a very small collection for Givenchy counting only 13 looks, Ricardo Tisci took a look back into the Hubert de Givenchy archives and performed intricate pleating, decorated with sequins and grommets on structured floor-length gowns.
