SUMMARY HAUTE COUTURE SS16

HAUTE COUTURE WEEK IS A TIME WHERE WE DREAM ABOUT ENCHANTING, GLAMOROUS AND SEDUCTIVE GOWNS, A TIME WHERE WE JET TO PARIS TO SEE THE WONDERS COMING OUT OF THE ATELIER, CREATED WITH PRECISION AND DELICACY BY THE CRAFTSPEOPLE AND THEIR SAVOIR-FAIRE.

We opened the week with Atelier Versace, whom this year decided to take a tangent towards a sporty theme. But what Donatella did not put aside is the sexy signature; she empowers the woman’s body with plunge, cutaway and delicate garments emphasising every single curve. To continue along, Schiaparelli invited us for a Gala dinner, presenting floor-length, flared and draped dresses filled with kitchen utensils and aliments. Without losing all the House’s code, Christian Dior Haute Couture SS16 collection saunters with fit-and-flare silhouettes and deconstructed volumes. Ralph & Russo put magic into their collection with an impeccable use of fabrics meanwhile Giambattista Valli flourished with sumptuous ruffle, floral prints and meticulous crystal embroideries, but what Valli truly mastered were the voluminous tulle dresses. Chanel’s elegant down-to-earth collection presented practical daywear with rounded sleeve, exotic eveningwear with capes and exquisite adornment all over the garments.

Bouchra Jarrar kept it casual this season with beautiful cut, sailor details and a perfect mix of fabrics. A delightful lilac hue dominated the runway at Giorgio Armani Privé, while Alexandre Vauthier experienced with cuts. “Enter India” was the mood for Elie Saab Haute Couture SS16 collection. A line that blew us out as usual. Only this time Elie Saab took a step towards a more casual look with influences on traditional Hindu clothing, from the silhouettes to the embroideries. Viktor & Rolf once again showed their passion for art. Models were walking with precaution showing off a collection of paper-cut collage representing different characters. Assembling different eras together, Ulyana Sergeenko’s show was abundant. A march of goddess paraded barefoot at Valentino, wearing sumptuous gowns made out of velvet, silk and organza, among other pleasant fabric. Last but not least, Zuhair Murad finished the Haute Couture week with what we expect for Haute Couture; ravishing and captivating gowns.
