Milan Day 1

THE FIRST DAY OF MILAN FASHION WEEK STARTED WITH PURE ANTICIPATION AND ENDED WITH RESOUNDING APPLAUSE. WE SAW EVERYTHING FROM 17TH CENTURY BOHEMIA TO STUNNING SEXYNESS. IT WAS A PERFECT START TO A WEEK THAT IS SURE TO BE FILLED WITH ITALIAN BELLEZA.

Alessandro Michele has shown that Gucci’s new era is on the rise. 17th century bohemia perfectly merged with the houses iconic heritage. It was a collection that left no wishes open and is sure to extend the luxury label’s fan base. And whilst Gucci lingered in romantic vintage dreams, Alberta Ferretti translated a breezy desert into fashion. Bohemian in spirit, we noticed Ferretti’s signature lace and macramé techniques next to delicate and soft organza layers.

At No. 21, Dell’Acqua found inspiration in the photographs of Corinne Day and Tina Modotti. For Spring/Summer 2016 he overlapped and reworked the masculine and feminine, coming up with sexy overlaps. Speaking of sexy, Fausto Puglisi showed a collection made for the brave wearer. High slits and plunging necklines were merely covered by bomber jackets. He also remained true to his strong signature seashell and symbolic embroideries that adorned dresses and belts.
