Paris Day 4

THE FOURTH DAY OF PARIS FASHION WEEK CALMED DOWN IN COLOUR, THEN TURNED INTO AN ECCENTRIC AND BRIGHT TIME BEFORE ALEXANDER WANG SHARED HIS TRIBUTE TO LETTING GO IN AN ALL WHITE COLLECTION.

Jonathan Anderson’s signature interest in innovative leather techniques is a great match for the Spanish leather house of Loewe. Even though we haven’t spotted a lot of it, he came up with great alternatives as in plastic trousers and an eccentric use of plastic trousers and broken mirror embellishments.

For a creative mind like Chalayan monochromaticity is everything but flat. Tailored suits varied from white to maroon to black and were only interrupted by a few prints. With a great architectural eye for details, the designer introduced a Cuban inspired safari glance for the upcoming summer season. Issey Miyake on the contrary went for colour blocked, sculptural and somewhat eccentric this season. It was a welcome addition to the monochromaticity that we have been spotting so far.

Raf Simons went beyond overdoing the Christian Dior collection. Neither embellishments nor eccentric use of colour was seen. The clean yet florally decorated venue reminded the Provence. Breezy whites and sheer dresses worn over knits imbued with the thought of daywear easiness. From la Provence we jetted to the Inka Kingdom to witness the new take on Ikat prints at Isabel Marant. Polishing her tribal tenures with luxuriously looking silver leather we could have called it quite glamorous indeed. Kissing the day goodnight, Balenciaga paid a tribute to letting go. Alexander Wang’s last collection for the iconic Parisian house was somewhat peaceful and appeared in the purest colour and most innocent frills. From white to black we found ourselves at Yohji Yamamoto, whose collection started with unpredictable draped and knotted dresses that are supposed to look different every time one wears them and went on with historic crinoline dresses. Despite historical inspiration the collection is aiming at young customers. It was a welcome occasion for the last model to carry a camera.
